Downloading the Executive Compensation Access database
If you subscribe to the ExecuComp add-on, you can download the complete executive compensation database in Microsoft Access format. Follow the instructions below:
- Once you have logged in to the web site, select the company tab and enter the ticker for any company, then click Go. (eg. enter the ticker for Intl Business Machines, "IBM", in the ticker box and click Go.) This will allow you to download the entire Microsoft Access database (all companies, all items and all years 1991 forward).
- Once the company has come up, click on the Executive Compensation folder (on the left side of the screen) and select the link titled "Exec. Access Db." To downlaod the .mdb file, make sure the icon to the left of the filename is an Access icon (a key). If the icon is a zip icon, click it to change it.
- In the Save As dialog box, make sure the filename has a .mdb extension, then click Save.
- Locate the downloaded file on your system using your Windows/NT Explorer and open the file in Microsoft Access.

Note: The database file is aproximately 70 Mb in size. Depending on the time of day, and server traffic, it may take a while to download the file. We suggest that you download the file early in the morning or late at night for the fastest results. Or, to save some time, you can follow the directions below.
Downloading the Executive Compensation Access database in an executable zip file
- Once you have logged in to the web site, select the company tab and enter the ticker for any company, then click Go. (eg. enter the ticker for Intl Business Machines, "IBM", in the ticker box and click Go.) This will allow you to download the entire Microsoft Access database as an executable zip file (all companies, all items and all years 1991 forward).
- Once the company has come up, click on the Executive Compensation folder (on the left side of the screen) and select the link titled "Exec. Access Db." To downlaod the .zip file, make sure the icon to the left of the filename is a zip icon (a key). If the icon is an Access icon, click it to change it.
- In the Save As dialog box, make sure the filename has a .exe extension, then click Save.
- Locate and double-click the downloaded file on your system using your Windows/NT Explorer.
- In the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box, enter the location where you want to unzip the database to, and click Unzip. A message stating that 1 file was unzipped successfully will display. Click OK, then cloase the WinZip dialog box.
- Locate the uzipped file on your system using your Windows/NT Explorer and open the file in Microsoft Access.
